2020

Between December 2019 - January 2020, I was travelling with friends in Australia.

This trip ended up taking place during the height of the bushfire season now known as Black Summer. It had a devastating effect on the local ecosystems and was traumatic for the many people who lived through it.

While staying with my friend in Gerringong, I made this print of some of the rarest fauna to be found in Australia: the Monotremes. There are only five living species of Monotreme in the world, one being a type of platypus and four being types of echidna. The fires threatened the existence of all.

My goal was to raise both awareness about the disaster and money for ecological reparations. I donated all of the profits from selling this print to WIRES, an Australian wildlife rescue organization.

Although I only had a few days before leaving the country, I was able to raise $250 from the sales.
